Get involved: give Brain City Berlin a face!
Berlin as a city of science is diverse, interdisciplinary, open-minded and innovative. Brain City Berlin makes this visible in many different ways. At the heart of the campaign, initiated by Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie and the Berlin Partner Science network, are the Brains of Berlin: renowned researchers as well as young talent and representatives of scientific institutions who, as ambassadors for Berlin’s research landscape, inspire people from all over the world to discover Brain City Berlin.
Brains of Berlin are renowned researchers, young talent and representatives of scientific institutions who research, teach and work at Berlin’s universities, research institutions or companies. In their projects and personalities, they are as diverse and open-minded as Berlin itself as a location for science and research. As Brain City ambassadors, they offer exciting insights into their work and bring Berlin’s science to life.
You can apply as:
- a researcher at a Berlin scientific institution or research company
- a non-research representative of a scientific institution or research company in the city (e.g. administrative staff)
- a researcher who no longer lives in Berlin but would like to stay connected to the city of science
As a Brain of Berlin, you might, for example, talk at events about your personal experiences in research and about life in the German capital. You decide for yourself how much and in what form you want to get involved – in presentations, through networking or on social media. We look forward to your feedback and new ideas!
Examples:
- Showcase Berlin: In your specialist presentations, you also talk about Berlin as a city of science and your role as an ambassador. You could add a closing slide or a short film about Berlin as a location for science, for example.
- Support Brain City: In the context of your work, you refer people to the campaign page with your ambassador profile or take part in Brain City campaign events.
- International networking: Do you teach at research centers abroad or host students from all over the world? Get them excited not only about your field, but also about living and working in Brain City Berlin. We will provide you with materials.
- Social media: Use Twitter, Instagram & co. to keep your network informed. For example, share a link to your ambassador profile or to your activities as a Brain of Berlin on Facebook or Twitter. If you enjoy communicating on social media, you, your project group or your institute can also take over the Brain City Instagram account for a week. This is a great way to give lively insights into your everyday work as a researcher.
Your commitment to Brain City Berlin is not a one-way street. We support you with a range of offers and materials. Use the campaign to make your research more visible!
- Your profile on the Brain City Berlin website: we create an ambassador profile of you for our “Brains of Berlin” section.
- Interviews, features and specialist articles: are you working on an innovative project, would you like us to cover one of your events, or would you like to write an article yourself? Our “Stories” section has room for that.
- Brain City kit: to make it as easy as possible to integrate your commitment to Brain City into your work, we support you with information and promotional materials about Berlin and its research landscape. We are happy to advise you.
- Participation in Brain City events: as part of the campaign, we invite you to events and networking meetings. If you wish, we can also involve you as an expert in relevant events, by individual arrangement.
